Sweden’s Parliament has approved the Government’s proposal to permit uranium mining in the country. The decision reclassifies uranium as a concession mineral, recognizing its particular importance to society and allowing for regulated extraction. It also removes the permit requirement and municipal veto for activities involving small amounts of uranium, meaning local governments can no longer block such projects through local political decisions.
